The season ultimately came to a disappointing end for the Utah Jazz after they were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets. Their matchup turned into an epic first-round series that went all the way to seven games. Jazz star Donovan Mitchell was understandably frustrated after their early exit, but has come out to make a bold promise for Utah moving forward.

Mitchell pointed out how in his mind, the Jazz had overachieved since the restart, considering how they lost Bojan Bogdanovic to season-ending surgery during the hiatus. The 6-foot-3 guard then went on to guarantee that Jazz will not experience the same fate in the future.

“If you had told us before coming here that we’d have control of the series 3-1 without Bojan, not to say I would have said you were lying, I have complete faith in us, but some of that just didn’t seem, I guess a team like that it didn’t seem as real as it was, but we just got down here and we worked and everybody just locked in, from the rookies to the coaches, but we just got to do more,” Mitchell said, via The Athletic's Tony Jones. “With Bojan coming back, not putting everything on Bojan, but with him coming back it’s another weapon. This won’t happen again.”

Most folks tend to overlook how significant the loss of Bogdanovic was for the Jazz. He was the team's second-top scorer behind Mitchell, averaging 20.2 points on 44.7 shooting, while also connecting on 3.0 triples per contest on a 41.4-percent clip. Unfortunately, the Croatian national had to go under the knife prior to the restart to address an injury on his right wrist.

The Jazz are hopeful that Bogdanovic will be ready to go to start the 2020-21 campaign. As Mitchell implied above, his return to the squad will only make the Jazz a more formidable side next season.
