Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Jimmy Butler requested a trade from the Wolves in late September but after three weeks of bartering with other team's in an attempt to get a trade package they consider fair, Minnesota still hasn't honored Butler's request.

Per the Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jeff Teague says that “it would be nice” if disgruntled All-Star returned to the Wolves locker room “but that's not up to me.”

Butler's rumored rifts with the Wolves' young stars in Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony-Towns make the idea that Butler's return would be well-received in the locker room a dubious proposition.

There's still been little clarification on the reasons that Butler no longer wants to suit up for Minnesota but, from the exterior, it would seem like there are multiple frayed relationships within the organization — both player-to-player and coach-to-player — that came to a head when it was time for the Wolves to offer Anthony-Towns a contract extension.

However, Butler has a positive relationship with many players on the team, from Teague to Derrick Rose to Taj Gibson. That said, while his presence may have miffed the Wolves' young cornerstone players, the veterans would have likely welcomed him back with open arms.

As of this week, the Miami Heat are still offering trade proposals to the Wolves that they hope will be accepted by Wolves head coach and general manager Tom Thibodeau.

The Heat have also emerged as Butler's preferred trade destination but unfortunately, the Wolves have made a habit of proposing counteroffers for Butler that are seen as delirious. With Thibodeau reluctant to move Butler, even hoping that he'll return to the team, Butler may have no choice but to suit up for the Wolves this season.
