The Los Angeles Clippers made headlines this week with the news of Jerry West joining the franchise as a consultant coming out.

West will be in a similar to role to what he had with the Golden State Warriors — a role that helped lead the franchise to two titles in the last three seasons with the help of bringing in Kevin Durant as well.

The thought is that now for the Clippers, maybe West can do something similar.

Via Bruce Jenkins of The San Francisco Chronicle:

Here’s a far more interesting connection for LeBron over the coming months: Jerry West.

Those close to James insist that he will opt out of his Cleveland deal next summer and that he’s very interested in moving to Los Angeles, where he owns a home, where his kids are enrolled in a private school (just in case the family moves west), and where James’ business conglomerate has established a base of operations.

Such speculation was all about the Lakers until West agreed to join the Clippers as a consultant, the role he handled so influentially with the Warriors. And that just might change everything.

The Clippers could definitely provide LeBron the opportunity to form another super team, whether it's based around the current core of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan or something else.

Jenkins goes on to suggest a foursome of James, Paul, Russell Westbrook and Paul George could be possible a year from now. George and Westbrook have L.A. roots and have always been linked in rumors to going back home some time.

Whether or not this could come true, it's still early on and LeBron making major decisions to influence such a move is still a ways out.
