The shelf life for an NFL running back is not very long. Just ask Todd Gurley, whose career already appears to be in sharp decline at the mere age of 25. But Frank Gore doesn't want to hear any of that.

Gore is 37 years old, and while he clearly is not the same player he was during his prime, he remains in the NFL and will play out the 2020 campaign with the New York Jets.

A sports Twitter account made a joke about Gore's age this week and the veteran reacted perfectly:

Gore, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round (65th pick overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

He spent the first 10 years of his career with the 49ers and established himself as one of the best halfbacks in the league, making five Pro Bowl appearances during his time in San Francisco.

Gore's best season in the Bay came in 2006, when he racked up 1,695 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 61 passes for 485 yards and a score.

Since leaving the Niners in 2015, Gore has played for three different clubs. He spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before joining the Miami Dolphins for one year in 2018. Gore then linked up with the Buffalo Bills in 2019 but struggled, rushing for 599 yards and a pair of touchdowns while logging a meager 3.6 yards per attempt.

Gore signed a one-year deal with the Jets earlier this offseason.
