The Pittsburgh Steelers will face off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium with a familiar face standing on New York's sideline. Hines Ward wants a ‘Gatorade shower' if New York is able to beat the Steelers.

“I am a competitive guy,” Ward said. “I want to win. I want to beat the Steelers just as much as anybody in this building. Trust me. I’m telling my guys they’ve got to win this one for me. I want the Gatorade shower and all that if we win.

Of course, Ward spent 14 seasons in Pittsburgh and Steelers fans still wear his No. 86 to games. Over his 14 seasons with the Steelers, Ward combined for 1,000 receptions, 12,083 yards, and 85 receiving touchdowns.

All of the statistics are franchise records for the Steelers. That is very impressive when you consider all of the Hall-0f-Fame wide receivers who have sported a black and yellow jersey.

Nevertheless, as an assistant coach for the Jets, he's hoping to see his former team take a loss on Sunday. Ward spoke about how odd it will be to be rooting against the Steelers.

“Yeah, it will be a little strange for me,” the 43-year-old Ward acknowledged. “I’m super excited about the opportunity, dressed up in green and knowing how Steeler Nation is going to be out there. But I’m still a competitive guy. I want to do all that I can to prepare our guys to go out there and try to win games. At the end of the day, that’s really what it’s all about.”

New York isn't in the playoff picture but a win over the Steelers in Week 16 would provide some hope moving forward. At the same time, Ward could have some bragging rights over his former franchise.
