New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell is expected to play on Sunday against the Washington Redskins despite dealing with several issues, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bell missed practice Wednesday last week due to illness, although he did return on a limited basis Thursday. He has also been dealing with knee issues, as well as banged up ribs which he suffered last week against the Giants.

It has been a rough first season in New York for the two-time All-Pro running back. He’s rushed for just 143 yards through nine games with two rushing touchdowns. He also has 44 catches for 276 yards and a receiving score. His 3.1 yards per attempt is by far the lowest in his career.

Bell is coming off another very rough outing last week against the New York Giants. He was limited to a mere 34 yards on 18 carries for a measly 1.89 yards per attempt. Although, he did still get a touchdown.

But despite his struggles, having Bell around against the Redskins is still better than being without him. The Jets' next best option at running back is Bilal Powell, who has 54 rushing yards on 16 carries. Wide receiver Ty Montgomery is also a potential option to play in the backfield.

If Bell is capable of performing at a high level despite his recent physical ailments, he’ll have a great opportunity to break out for his best game of the season against the Redskins. Washington’s defense is 28th in the league in terms of rushing defense this season, giving up 136.0 rushing yards per game.
