The New York Jets can certainly use an upgrade at the wide receiver position with soon-to-be second year quarterback Sam Darnold currently surrounded with limited options at the moment, but the latest reports have the franchise eyeing Donte Moncrief, Danny Amendola, and Cole Beasley on the free agent market.
Outside of the sometimes prolific Robby Anderson, the Jets are incredibly thin out wide with what could become quite the memorable offseason ahead for the up-and-coming AFC East franchise. As a result of their glaring need at wide receiver, Connor Hughes of The Athletic recently divulged what could become a very important piece of information for New York sports fans.
“Keep an eye on Donte Moncrief and Danny Amendola when the new league year begins, along with Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley, according to league sources,” writes Hughes.
Although none of these three players truly have the ability to take over a game, the addition of any of the aforementioned trio would definitely be a step in the right direction for the Jets.
With Anderson flanked out wide, Moncrief, Amendola or Beasley could become a nice little compliment up the middle of the field as a reliable slot receiver. Despite the fact that the Jets need some serious firepower, a young quarterback will typically find success if he can establish a connection with a veteran slot receiver, which has been well documented over time.
It remains to be seen as to what exactly unfolds for Gang Green this offseason as the Jets are reportedly in on former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell, among several other high caliber players.
