The Orlando Magic won't have to wait too long to utilize their newly acquired shooting guard on the court.

Jodie Meeks, who was traded from the Detroit Pistons to Orlando in June, underwent foot surgery in July. He was ruled out indefinitely at the time.

Now, it doesn't appear to be all that long.

Good news for MeeksOrlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins:

Meeks probably will be available to play at some point in November, a team official told the Orlando Sentinel. Meeks’ exact return date will depend on how well he continues to progress.

Meeks will not be able to participate fully when training camp starts on Sept. 27, the team official said.

The Magic didn't expect to have Meeks back for training camp, so getting him in November is about as good as they could've hoped for.

After trading Victor Oladipo, the Magic intend for Meeks to improve their backcourt depth. They've also struggled with perimeter shooting, which is Meeks' forte: his career 3-point percentage is 37.3.
