While some people around the NFL are starting to trust Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on the field due to his always “cool” demeanor under any in-game circumstance, his film-rating skills are dubious at best. To be fair, we are talking about his opinions from eight years ago, but still, when you come out and say that the movie Pootie Tang is an all-time great film, you leave yourself up open for mockery. That is exactly what Burrow did as a 16-year old kid in the Summer of 2016 in this epic tweet:

Even cult followers of Pootie Tang do not think that it is a great movie, so Burrow must have been extremely moved by the film's irony. Pootie Tang is a comedy film from 2001 that was written and directed by stand-up comedian Louis C.K and stars Lance Crouther, J.B. Smoove, Wanda Sykes, and Chris Rock.

The film is a satire of the old “blaxploitation” films of the 1970s and at times has been polarising in the race-relations community. Some say that the film is demeaning towards black people and some, such as Rock (whose The Chris Rock Show comedy sketches were the basis for the movie), say that it is exactly the opposite and instead draws attention to the films in the '70s that exploited black people and truly were demeaning.

In the end, whatever your feelings on the cultural significance of the film are, you do know one thing: Joe Burrow loves Pootie Tang and he isn't afraid to tell the world.
