Jorge Masvidal isn't convinced Nick Diaz looked like himself at UFC 266. The Cuban American isn't sure if we'll ever see ‘peak shape' Nick Diaz ever again.

Jorge Masvidal watched the fight against Robbie Lawler and left with a feeling of sadness for Nick Diaz. He simply doesn't want to see the elder Diaz get hurt.

“[It was] not the Nick Diaz that I’m accustomed to, obviously,” UFC welterweight Masvidal said recently on The MMA Hour via MMAFighting. “I was fighting alongside Nick when he was in Strikeforce and I was in Strikeforce, so I knew a very different Nick Diaz. I don’t want to see the guy get hurt, man.

“I would love to see him in peak shape, go in there and fuck some people up, but I don’t know how much of a reality that is now after seeing his last performance. I want to see him not get hurt. And if he does go back in there, I want to see him as close as we can to his old self. I don’t think his last performance, we got to see that.”

Nick Diaz took on Robbie Lawler in a surprising return at UFC 266. The bout was very exciting as both men put on a furious pace that saw them throw an enormous amount of strikes compared to the average fight.

Diaz would go on to lose by TKO in the third round with the Stockton native unable to continue. It is currently unclear if he'll return to the UFC.
