Last year's top overall draft pick put together an impressive rookie season that ended with the Rookie of the Year award.

Karl-Anthony Towns doesn't want it to stop there.

The young Minnesota Timberwolves star has his sights set much higher, as high as possible, really.

While appearing at one of John Calpari's basketball camps Wednesday, Towns was asked if he thought he could one day be the best player in the world. Towns had this to say, courtesy of Courier-Journal.com:

“I honestly do. I have the confidence in myself. I have everything I think to do it. Now it’s all up to me, to execute. Everyone in the NBA has the ability to do that. We all have the ability to be the best player in the world. Just matters who puts more time and puts more work in and who’s more fortunate enough to make it happen with the right situation. I feel that Minnesota right now gives me one of the best situations in all of the NBA.”

The young and athletic center looks well on his way to becoming a perennial All-Star; becoming an MVP doesn't seem crazy either.

Best player in the world is a tough title to snag. If you think about it, there really haven't been many. Since Michael Jordan held the title, it's been handed off to Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, possibly Tim Duncan and LeBron James. That's about it.

Karl-Anthony Towns is certainly a candidate to take it once LeBron James starts to decline. It's never a bad thing for a young player to be this confident.
