After a strong season in 2018-19, the Sacramento Kings will look to continue their ascent into the Western Conference playoffs in 2019-20.

According to a recent report from Sean Cunningham of ABC10 Sacramento, the Kings opening game matchup and home opener have been leaked.

“According to sources, the Kings will open their 2019-20 NBA season in Phoenix against the Suns on Oct. 23rd, then tip-off their home opener in Sacramento on Oct. 25th when they host the Portland Trail Blazers.”

As you can see, the Phoenix Suns will be the first matchup of the season for the resurgent Kings. Last year, the Kings went 3-1 against Phoenix with their lone loss coming on January 8 at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The Suns got 26 points off the bench by Kelly Oubre as well as a do-everything showing from rookie De’Anthony Melton, who had 10 points, eight assists, four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

The Kings fell to the Blazers two out of three times in 2018-19, including on the last day of the season when Portland rested almost every one of its big-name players and played rookies Anfernee Simons and Gary Trent Jr. 48 minutes each. The Blazers won a game they were trying to lose behind a breakout performance from Simons, in the process changing their playoff destiny for the better.

Sacramento was one of the most surprising teams in the league last season, keeping pace in the playoff race for its majority and finishing with a 39-43 record. Behind rising star point guard De'Aaron Fox, ever-improving sharp-shooter Buddy Hield, and tantalizing big man Marvin Bagley III, expect the Kings to build on that progress going forward.
