Malik Monk made his presence felt in his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, but it's unknown if they'll be able to afford him in Free Agency as he seeks a long-term deal. Enter the Sacramento Kings, who have emerged as a possible landing spot for the guard.

Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, who joined Marc Stein on his Substack podcast:

It’s a very different situation than the Lakers, but I know that there’s mutual interest. The one team I’ve heard to look out for other than the Lakers is the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings have Davion Mitchell and De'Aaron Fox as their starting guards, but Monk could offer a serious scoring punch off the bench. In 2021-22, he averaged 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 39 percent from three-point land.

Monk made it clear earlier this week that he'd love to go back to LA and league sources expect him to fetch a deal within the $10-12 million range per season. The Lakers may not be able to offer him that, however.

It's no secret he's looking for more minutes as well, which is very possible with the Kings. Given their lack of depth behind Mitchell and Fox, Monk could slot in as one of their primary second unit options. They also need more perimeter weapons, shooting just 34 percent from deep in 2021-22. That ranked 24th in the league.

Malik Monk to Sacramento is something to keep an eye on in NBA Free Agency.
