On a recent episode of Sundae Conversation with Kirk Herbstreit and Caleb Pressley, the latter asked about rumors suggesting Herbstreit would return as an announcer.
““You were the voice of one of the best video games of all time, do you remember that?” Pressley asked, referring to Herbstreit's work on NCAA 14, the last NCAAF EA Sports title. Pressley then addressed the rumor. “There’s rumors they might be bringing that thing back. Do you have any inside information?”
Herbstreit jokingly responded that he's “Hearing the same”. Overall, this joke doesn't necessarily confirm his appearance, but he didn't outright deny the rumor either. Hopefully the joke was more than just a joke, though we won't know for some time.
Pressley then spoke about EA's reported $500 per player for their NIL in the game, citing most of the money went to Herbstreit. The current TNF commentator joked that he did earn “very little” despite “hours of voice over work”. This section can be found about 3:20 into the video, in case you're looking to watch it yourself.
Overall, we're hoping to see EA Sports College Football have a high level of authenticity to the game. With the first NCAAF game released in over a decade, EA Sports has the opportunity to bring back one of their biggest series with a bang. However, they need to set themselves apart from their other annual release titles, which haven't sit well with fans. Still, we want to remain optimistic for such a massive game.
There are a few recent reports circulating the internet about EA Sports College Football. With a release date set for 2024, it seems we won't have to speculate much longer.
