Veteran big man Enes Kanter is playing for his third team in seven-year of playing in the NBA. He started his career with the Utah Jazz, enjoyed the most success with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and now, he's having a fresh start with the New York Knicks.
However, Kanter has wasted little time in making it clear that he wants to spend the rest of his playing days in New York.
The 25-year-old has quickly ingrained himself as one of the primary contributors for the Knicks through the first three games of the season as he's averaging 14.3 points on 61.3 percent shooting from the field with 12.0 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game. This includes recording a pair of double-doubles while coming off a 19-rebound performance against the Boston Celtics, which saw 16 coming in the first half of the game.
Despite the Knicks dropping each of their first three games, Enes Kanter has been a dependable source of production alongside rising star forward Kristaps Porzingis. He has helped bring stability to the center position, which New York lacked last season from former All-Star big man Joakim Noah.
Enes Kanter is in the third year of his four-year, $70 million deal that includes a player option for the 2018-19 season worth $18.6 million. It is likely that he will test the free agent market next summer, but these comments could be an early indication of what he may do on the open market.
