The New York Knicks will name Mike Miller as interim head coach, according to Shams Charania.
David Fizdale was fired by the Knicks earlier on Friday.
The Knicks haven’t made the playoffs since 2013. It’s pretty easy to see why superstars don’t want to play in The Big Apple. James Dolan is probably the worst owner in sports and president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry clearly have no clue what they’re doing. Just look at the roster they gave Fizdale this season.
After missing out on stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency, the Knicks used their cap space on Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Marcus Morris, Wayne Ellington, Elfrid Payton and Reggie Bullock. That’s a lot of power forwards on one team and guys who don’t really move the needle.
At this point, it probably doesn’t matter who is coaching the Knicks. Their roster just isn’t good enough to compete and management brings a new meaning to the word dysfunction. No wonder Kristaps Porzingis requested a trade from the Knicks. He could see things weren’t going to get better even after Phil Jackson was let go and Carmelo Anthony was traded.
