Two weeks after it was reported that the New York Knicks are finalizing a deal to bring in Ramon Sessions to their fold, they have now officially signed him. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy.

The 31-year-old point guard has had a journeyman career in the NBA over the past 10 seasons. He was the 56th overall pick in the 2007 draft and played for the Charlotte Hornets last year, appearing in 50 games for them. He has career averages of 10.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 23.7 minutes per game.

Sessions’ addition will give the Knicks a veteran playmaker who has the ability to provide them with quality minutes off the bench night in and night out. He is also expected to mentor their young rookie, Frank Ntilikina, and teach him a thing or two about the NBA season’s grind. Together with Ron Baker, who the team re-signed recently, they will give head coach Jeff Hornacek more options and more depth to their guard rotation.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact Sessions can give the Knicks. With the experience that he has, he can be considered a low-risk, high-reward prospect for them, who can bring a lot to their table — especially stability in their backcourt.
