‘BlacKkKlansman' director Spike Lee, a New York Knicks devotee, just received good news at the Oscars from Samuel L. Jackson.

While the Oscars was ongoing, the Knicks snapped an 18-game home losing streak as they snagged a victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Per SNY, Jackson veered off the script to share the good news to Lee.

“First of all, Spike, so glad you’re sitting down,” Jackson said, as transcribed by Yahoo Sports. “After 18 consecutive home losses, the Knicks won tonight.”

“I repeat, the Knicks won tonight, defeating San Antonio 130-118.”

As seen in the clip, Lee couldn't help but laugh. However, the award-winning director seemed to be saying “”we're trying to tank!” to Jackson.

The crowd, as expected, cheered Lee on. Most of them must be aware of Lee's undying support for New York despite the team's struggles over the past few years.

In the Knicks' victory, second-year man Damyean Dotson put on 27 points in 37 minutes of play. Three players notched double-doubles: Dennis Smith Jr. (19 points, 13 assists), Kevin Knox (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Mitchell Robinson (15 points, 14 rebounds).

Indeed, it was definitely a good night for Lee. Not only did he snag his first Oscar trophy for best-adapted screenplay for “BlacKkKlansman,” but his favorite team in the world sneaked in a victory over a well-coached team. The future is looking bright for New York.
