In a significant development for the 2024 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) season, KT Rolster has made a power move by signing the Worlds 2022-winning duo, Deft and Pyosik. This strategic decision not only strengthens KT Rolster’s roster but also reunites two authors of the best underdog stories in professional League of Legends history.

Two Champions to KT

The announcement, made on 25th November, comes at a time when the League of Legends esports offseason is gaining momentum with teams and players announcing their moves for the upcoming season. Fans can see them on the same side of the Rift once again when the LCK Spring 2024 season begins early next year.

Deft and Pyosik were part of the DRX squad that made history at the Worlds 2022 by lifting the Summoner's Cup as the underdogs after winning against T1 in the final. However, following their win, the duo, along with two other members of the DRX roster, parted ways, each moving to different teams.

Pyosik found himself in the North American LCS region with Team Liquid, where they finished 8th in Spring and 3rd in Summer, qualifying for the 2023 World Championship. Unfortunately, Pyosik and the rest of Team Liquid exited early in this year's Worlds after going 0-3 in the Swiss Stage.

Deft, on the other hand, stayed in the LCK after moving to Dplus KIA. The team finished 5th in both seasons, and qualified for Worlds 2023 through the Regional Finals. Deft went a little further than Pyosik in Worlds 2023, but was also ultimately unable to make it to the Knockouts Stage as they went 2-3 in the Swiss Stage.

KT's Rebuild

KT Rolster has undergone significant changes in its team composition during the off-season. Before announcing the addition of Deft and Pyosik, the team declared the free agency of several players, including Kim “Kiin” Gi-in (Top), Mun “Cuzz” Woo-chan (Jungle), Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram (ADC), and Son “Lehends” Si-woo (Support). The only player initially retained from the previous year was mid-laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, whose contract was extended till November 2024.

This is not Deft's first stint with KT Rolster. He previously played for the organization from 2016 to 2018, before moving to Kingzone DragonX. The current roster for KT Rolster, with the inclusion of Pyosik and Deft, now comprises Pyosik (Jungle), Bdd (Mid), and Deft (ADC), with the top laner and support player yet to be announced.
