Why R. Sociedad Could Win This Match
The less notable Basque club is likely disappointed that the season turned out this way. For a brief part of the season, Real Sociedad was in a fight to win La Liga. Obviously, no one wins the title in the first half of the season, unless it is a massive lead, but the fans of this club were likely dreaming about a top-four finish, the first one since the 2012-13 season. Now, they can still reach the Europa League, if they win all their remaining games.
It all begins on Thursday and despite the general opinion that Cadiz is an easy team to beat, Real Sociedad still needs to be careful. Yet, despite this being true, the sheer talent in the Sociedad squad should be enough to claim this win. In a certain regard, anything but a win could make the next game, versus Villarreal, a much tougher game. If they win this match, playing to a draw next week would be a good result. Cadiz is infinitely less talented than Villarreal, so their focus should be on killing this game early.
As mentioned above, this Real Sociedad team is very talented. They are led by striker Alexander Isak, but also have the likes of Adnan Januzaj, Mikel Oyarzabal, and, of course, David Silva, to name a few. Truth be told, their last game is versus Alaves, the team that should really be relegated by the time this match comes.
As mentioned above, Cadiz is a fairly odd squad. They have some great talents, guys like Alvaro Negredo, Tomas Alarcon, Anthony Lozano, and others. Also, they are currently undefeated against Real Madrid and Barcelona. Of course, they only played three games, but they have two 0-0 draws and an incredible 1-0 win against the Catalans a few weeks back. Additionally, they beat the likes of Celta Vigo, Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao this season, all teams in a better position than them. Yet, they find themselves in a position to potentially come back to the Segunda.
However, the math is simple – if Cadiz can win all of their matches, they are safe. Of course, if Mallorca slips up against Sevilla, two out of three wins could also work. As a team that has a ton of potential, Cadiz can stay up and that fight begins its most important stage here, versus Real Sociedad.
