Champions of Spain Real Madrid will be hosting relegation-bound Levante in a game that could be the start of the latter's improbable comeback into La Liga life. With that said, it’s a good time to check out our La Liga odds series, which includes our Real Madrid-Levante prediction and pick we have laid out below.

Real Madrid enters this game completely relaxed. A few weeks back, they secured the La Liga title with a 4-0 win at home to Espanyol. After that, they had the improbable comeback versus Man City to go into the Champions League final. Unfortunately for them, they lost the Madrileno Derby to Atletico Madrid, but Real did field their B-team essentially. Levante, on the other hand, needs a small miracle to survive. They are six points behind the last secure spot and Levante needs to win games and hope for some good results elsewhere. If they lose this game, their La Liga life might be over.

Why Real Madrid Could Win This Match

As said above, Real Madrid is the champions and this is their second La Liga title in three years. After coming close last season, the Spanish giants are now in possession of their 35th league title, a record for Spain. Thus, their game last weekend versus Atletico Madrid was an opportunity for some players down the end of the bench to get some minutes. It did not end up working out, but due to the Champions League final coming up soon, Real Madrid will likely field a similar team this Thursday versus Levante.

Still, this team is very strong. Due to a fairly short bench, some first-team players will still feature and, usually, that is enough to win against most La Liga sides. Levante is one of them, as they only gathered 29 points in 35 games. Players like Luka Jovic, Jesus Vallejo, and possibly even Isco or Gareth Bale, if they are healthy, will be able to prove they can still play, even though they were mostly bench warmers for the season. Real Madrid has a short bench in terms of playing against bigger clubs, but against the likes of Levante, it should be enough, especially in the Bernabeu.

If Carlo Ancelotti decides to play some of his starters to keep them match fit for the Champions League final, it is completely another story. Against even a few Real Madrid starters, this Levante side should have no chances. The quality of Real Madrid's overall squad should be enough to get them this win.

Why Levante Could Win This Match

Plain and simple – if they lose this match, Levante is saying goodbye to the Spanish La Liga. The side coached by Alessio Lisci actually has some quality and they really should not be in this position. However, their issues for the entire season have been that Levante cannot show up against smaller sides. Out of their six wins this season, one came against Atletico Madrid, one against Real Sociedad, and one against Villarreal. Also, they kept it fairly close against both Sevilla and Barcelona, losing to a very late Luuk de Jong header versus Barca and almost pulling it back with a Roberto Soldado goal versus Sevilla.

Against Real Madrid, playing in their Ciutat de Valencia stadium, they had a 2-1 and a 3-2 lead, but two goals by Vinicius Jr meant that the game ended in a draw. So, it is clear that Levante can perform and the quality in their squad is undeniable. They have experienced international players like Soldado, Shkodran Mustafi, and Martin Caceres, together with the likes of Roger Marti, Jose Luis Morales, and Oscar Duarte. These are all guys that can play great football on their day.

Despite being huge underdogs, the combination of Real Madrid resting players and their tendency to show up against bigger teams could mean some life-saving points for Levante. It is a long shot, obviously, but they should be ready to fight for their place in La Liga next year, even against the mighty champions from the Capital.

Final Real Madrid-Levante Prediction & Pick

This prediction would be much easier if we could enter Carlo Ancelotti's head and figure out who he is fielding on Thursday. Based on the last game and some injuries in the club, together with Levante being able to really play versus bigger teams, our final Real Madrid-Levante prediction is a shock Levante win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Final Real Madrid-Levante Pick: Levante +500
