Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis joined Stephen A. Smith on Wednesday morning's airing of ESPN's “First Take” for a wide-ranging interview. Amid their discussion, Smith asked Davis to comment on his upcoming free agency and whether or not he'd be happy to stay in Los Angeles.

Davis, who joined the Lakers this offseason, says he's happy with the way his first season with the Lakers is going so far. However, he wasn't ready to offer a direct reply. Instead, he's focused on the task at hand:

Stephen A: “Have you thought about the fact that you're approaching free agency? Are you still hell-bent on maintaining the mindset that you're gonna see what happens at the end of the season? Or do you look at L.A. and say, ‘I ain't going anywhere for a long time. I'm loving all of this.' What's your attitude right now?”

Davis: “I still look at it as ‘we'll see what happens at the end of the season.' Obviously, the season is going great so far, and I'm trying to stay in the moment and worry about (free agency) when the season is over. I feel like we can do something special this year. With the team that we've put together and the coaching staff that we have, I don't think there is anyone who can beat us except the Los Angeles Lakers.

“When that time comes, I'll think about it and see what's going on. But right now, I'm trying to focus on this year and winning a championship with the Lakers.”

The pairing of Anthony Davis and LeBron James has paid off in a big way for the Lakers, who are currently holding a 24-4 overall record, which is tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for best in the NBA. Prior to Tuesday night's 105-102 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles had won 14 consecutive road games.

Whether or not Davis will remain with the Lakers remains to be seen. For now, he's clearly focused on hanging another banner from the rafters inside the Staples Center.
