Apparently, Anthony Davis gave a stern warning. But the Golden State Warriors didn't listen.

The Los Angeles Lakers big man struggled early against the Warriors in their play-in tournament battle on Wednesday, with Draymond Green roughing up Davis like he did something awful to his family. AD kept on missing open shots and committed turnovers. We could've called him D because his A-game was missing. Sorry.

But after the halftime break, with the Warriors leading by 13 points, Davis found his motivations: Jordan Poole and Juan Toscano-Anderson. The two Warriors apparently talked smack to Davis and LeBron James, prompting them to fire back and jumpstart a furious fightback (via Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area).

“You never want to poke the bear. It's funny. I told Jordan Poole that too. When we both got the double technicals, I came down and hit the mid-range (shot) and I said ‘You done woke me up.' (Toscano-Anderson) did the same thing with LeBron.”

Davis added talking smack is something that gets him and LeBron fueled, especially during crucial contests. And clearly, the Warriors, specifically Poole and JTA, learned that the hard way as AD and LBJ took matters into their own hands in the second half to complete the stunning comeback win and earn the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

“We're confident enough in our games, especially when we're struggling, that you never want to poke the bear. That's playoff basketball. We love it. It's fun to trash talk, it kind of gets us going.”

So a gentle reminder to the Phoenix Suns: Listen to Anthony Davis.
