JJ Redick is still a possible candidate to be the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. With that in mind, former NBA star, Carmelo Anthony, shared a hilarious NSFW story about Redick's time playing with Kobe Bryant for Team USA.

Almost every NBA star who played in the early 2000s has a Kobe Bryant story. However, this one from Carmelo Anthony is excellent timing considering the ongoing JJ Redick-Lakers rumors. And based on this story, Bryant was not a fan of Redick thanks to Mike Krzyzewski hyping up the former Duke star.

During a segment on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony claims that Bryant took Redick's praising “personal.” As a result, the Lakers legend made JJ Redick's life hell during Team USA practice.

“[Kobe] got tired of Coach K talking about JJ Redick [in Team USA tryouts]. Kob took it very, very personal… I'm like, ‘Damn why you treating the young boy like that?' [He like], ‘F*** that m***********.'”

This is just another classic Kobe Bryant story. There's a reason he's considered one of the best players of all time. He carried a similar mentality Michael Jordan had on the court. The Lakers legend ended his career averaging 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. Bryant also won five championships all with LA.

Who should the Lakers hire as head coach?

This is an important hiring decision for the Lakers. It's been a rough go for several years now as the franchise has essentially played musical chairs with different head coaches. But the front office has a chance to land someone who can lead the way for Los Angeles for years to come. But the franchise must also give that coaching candidate a chance to build a winning team.

JJ Redick is very much still involved in Lakers head coaching rumors. However, a new candidate may have emerged after the Detroit Pistons shockingly fired Monty Williams. At the very least, Williams should be given a look before Los Angeles makes a final decision.

When it comes down to it, LA needs someone who can coach superstar talent and handle the constant “win-now” pressure. Although Redick doesn't have any coaching experience, his smarts as a player should translate well as a coach. Meanwhile, Monty Williams has been a winning coach before and is considered a great coach despite being let go by the Pistons.

It'll be interesting to see what the Lakers ultimately decide to do. On top of needing a new head coach, the roster needs to improve all around as well. If Los Angeles can make the right moves this offseason they could be right back on top of the Western Conference. If not, it could set the franchise back another several years.
