Danny Green made Los Angeles Lakers history last night in their 112-102 loss against the L.A. Clippers.

Per the Lakers Twitter account, Green surpassed franchise legend and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the player with the most points in his debut game for the purple and gold.

Unbelievable. Of all the stars that have come and gone to Hollywood and donned a Lakers jersey for the first time, Danny Green bested all of them in their debut game for the franchise.

The two-time NBA champion torched the net with 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He was scorching hot from beyond the arc and knocked down seven of his nine attempts from deep.

He even outdid the Lakers' biggest acquisition this summer, Anthony Davis, who finished with 25 points on the evening. AD struggled from field, going just 8-of-21 from the field and 9-of-14 from the charity stripe.

LeBron James, who notched 26 points in his Los Angeles debut last season, scored just 18 points last night to go with nine rebounds, and eight assists.

Green was instrumental in the Lakers' third quarter surge that helped them keep the game close in the second half. He even knocked down a triple late in the third period to momentarily give Los Angeles a three point lead, before Clips forward Jamychal Green erased the deficit with a three of his own in the ensuing play.

Unfortunately, the Lakers couldn't follow through Green's efforts to lead them back to the game. With the game tied at 85 through three quarters, the Clippers eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter with their terrific defense and timely hits. They held the Lakers to just 17 points in the final period.

Reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Green's former teammate with the Raptors and Spurs, led the way for the Clippers with a masterful 30-point debut on 10-of-19 shooting.
