As part of a recent appearance on Take it there with Taylor Rooks, Danny Green and Dwight Howard explained why their Lakers teammate, Alex Caruso, has gained so much popularity.

Caruso may look like an ordinary guy, but the Lakers shooting guard has become an internet sensation this season. On several occasions, The White Mamba, as he's known, has showed that white men can indeed jump. And furthermore, he's proven to be an important piece of the Lakers' rotation on both ends of the floor.

A few of Caruso's highlights from the first half of this season:

During the wide-ranging interview, Green and Howard were asked to elaborate on Caruso's heightened popularity:

“Take me into this Caruso craze,” Rooks said to the talented Lakers duo. “Everyone loves Caruso.”

“That's the G.O.A.T.,” Green replied. “I guess there are not a lot of white guys in the league. He's one of the few that is very athletic. He has a little flavor in him. He does all the dirty work, and people love that.”

As part of the interview, Green and Howard were asked to compare several NBA players to reptiles. Howard, who joined the Lakers prior to the start of this season, likened Caruso to an albino lizard.

“I would say he would be an albino lizard,” the Lakers big man said of Caruso. “One of those big dragons. He's fast, fight hard and finishes hard.”

Caruso has earned the trust of Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, who has led the team to its first playoff berth since 2013. In his 58 games played this season (one start), the crafty point guard has racked up averages of 5.2 points on 42.3 percent shooting from the field (35.5 percent from beyond the arc), 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
