Veteran sharpshooter Danny Green just won his second NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors. He's officially a free agent and it is expected that he'll get a lot of interest from title contenders, including the Los Angeles Lakers.

Green was asked about the possibility of the Purple and Gold being interested in signing him. Here's his response:

The Lakers are expected to go after shooters in free agency, as they will look to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis with guys that can help space the floor.

Last season, Green averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. He also shot an impressive 45 percent from beyond the arc. If he decides to come to LA, he will have a legitimate shot at winning a second straight title.

However, it is likely that players like Green will be the Lakers' top priority once free agency begins on July 1. They are reportedly doing everything they can to free enough cap space to sign a third top-tier player.

They will reportedly go after Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Kemba Walker, and if they strike out, that's the time that they will shift their gear to multiple role players.

If the Lakers succeed in bringing in a third star, it is unlikely that they will sign Green, as he is expected to command around 8-12 million a year. Unless of course, if he agrees to sign a deal for the veteran's minimum or the mid-level exception.

Regardless of the outcome of their pursuit for a third superstar, there's no denying the fact that Green will be a huge addition to the Lakers if signed.
