Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and former President of the United State Donald Trump have long been sniping at one another.

It appears as though Trump felt like it was time to get another jab in at the Lakers star, namedropping him in one of his campaign rallies as he tried to make a joke to appease the crowd.

“If I were a coach, I’ll tell you, I wouldn’t be talking to too many women as we know women. I’d be getting some of these people that, ‘they’re women,’” the former president told a giggling crowd on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona. “Somebody said that if LeBron James ever decided to get the operation, how would he be on the court?”

Beyond his commentary about transgender athletes, Trump then decided to take a shot at LeBron James directly.

Did you see the basketball ratings, which were terrible? But they went up after his team was defeated,” Trump said of LeBron James, whose Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs.

While the NBA's ratings were indeed lower than its recent years, it's hard to imagine that having LeBron James eliminated did anything to help get the ratings back up. The Lakers, after all, are the NBA's biggest draw. But you'd be hard-pressed to get Donald Trump to say anything positive about James, and likewise goes the other way around.
