Endless trade rumors for big-name All-Stars? Just a typical offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers and their rabid fanbase. Russell Westbrook is the latest name that's been thrown into the fire for Lakers fans to obsess over.

The latest buss, however, does sound like the Lakers are actively trying to acquire the spitfire point guard from the Washington Wizards. This comes via report from Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer.

Lastly, the Lakers rumors have not gone away. Los Angeles has been linked by multiple sources to having interest in attaining Russell Westbrook, although the cap gymnastics to acquire the 2017 MVP will surely be tricky. It remains clear that Los Angeles' main objective this offseason is to find an on-ball creator that can lessen the playmaking duties of LeBron James.

To say that the Lakers potentially trading for Russell Westbrook is complicated would be a massive understatement. It doesn't take an expert to look at LA's cap sheet and see just how impossible it seems, at least on paper.

The Lakers already have north of $100 million tied to just four players this coming season, with other decisions such as Montrezl Harrell's player option and Marc Gasol's future in LA that could complicate things further. LeBron James and Anthony Davis account for about $76.5 million of that amount.

Russell Westbrook makes even more than either of them, with a whopping $44.2 million in salary for the 2021-22 season. That's going to take a lot of penny pinching to get Russ through the trade machine, but the Lakers probably have cap experts to figure out ways to do it.

But beyond that, would bringing in an aging Russell Westbrook alongside an even older LeBron James be a wise decision? That's probably the greater dilemma in all of this, more than anything. This is going to be a wild offseason for the Lakers.
