Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton revealed that despite the impending return of starting center JaVale McGee, Ivica Zubac will remain in the rotation.

Per Christian Rivas of SB Nation, Walton admitted that it would be tough to send Zubac back to the bench even if everyone's healthy. The 21-year-old Croatian has been the Lakers' starting center in place of McGee. In three games as a starter, Ivica Zubac reached double-figures in points and has swatted at least two shots. Apart from being the main recipient of nifty passes from LeBron James or Lonzo Ball, Zubac also got a ton of second-chance points.

“Yeah. And the way he’s playing right now it’ll be tough not to,” Luke Walton said when asked if he can still find minutes for Zubac.

“He has been really good in these opportunities, and I’ve said it after every game, ‘give him a lot of credit because he has worked and worked, and stayed ready.”

Walton added that he knew that he had a pretty deep team entering the season. But he assured every single one of his players that they'll get their opportunity to suit up and play.

“I told everyone from the beginning of the season, I said ‘listen, we have a very deep team now. And not everyone is going to be able to play, but I guarantee you throughout an NBA season, everybody will have their opportunities.’”

With the revelation of Ivica Zubac, it seems that the Lakers are much more talented than everyone expected. As the season reaches its midpoint mark, who knows what Walton and the Lakers are capable of doing.
