Speaking on JJ Reddick's podcast–“Load Management”–Lakers' forward Jared Dudley addressed Snoop Dogg's rant criticizing Danny Green for his missed three-point attempt at the end of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, that would have won the game and series.

“…Laker fans, like Snoop Dogg calling out Danny Green and then when we win feeling good. Like this man Danny Green has won three championships on three different teams, being a starting shooting guard. Are we kidding? Like come on, man, like I agree, he missed a shot. He struggled at certain times, but the man is a career 40 (percent shooter).”

Though the Lakers would eventually go on to secure their 17th title a game later, Laker fans were apparently still not over the missed shot from Green, taking to change.org to file petitions that would prevent the guard–as well as Kyle Kuzma–from receiving a championship ring due to their inconsistent performance. Though the petitions have gained a combined 30,000 signatures, they are highly unlikely to be taken seriously, and don't seem to have phased the Lakers or Dudley, with the forward calling them “low-key kind of funny.”

While the criticism of Green, from Snoop Dogg and other fans was understandable given the stakes of the miss, it should be noted that both the guard and his fiancee were the subject of death threats following the game 5 loss. While Green was initially unaware of the threats–choosing to ignore social media after the game–he was alerted to it by his partner following her inbox being flooded.

Signed to a two-year deal during last offseason, Danny Green will not only receive a championship ring this fall, but is also in line to make an additional $15 million next season, no matter what criticism he receives.
