After serving a 25-day sentence for a probation violation, coupled with the Achilles injury he suffered in January, it's safe to say that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did not have one of his best two-month stretches as a pro. However, now that the Los Angeles Lakers swingman has passed both of them, he is back playing at a very high level.

When asked how he feels about being free from injury and any legal issues, the 25-year-old Georgia product admitted that it was a huge distraction for him, both mentally and physically. He then added, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, that he is now focused again on just playing basketball and is glad that he got his rhythm back.

“I mean it was kind of hard with that situation I had, but now that's behind me,” Caldwell-Pope said. “I can focus on just one thing — that's basketball. It's been good just to be able to get my work when I need it and just be ready for games.”

“It kind of takes you out of a rhythm. You've got the same rhythm every day just to keep you going. So once that rhythm is broken, it's kind of hard to get back with it when you got a lot of things going on.”

“I built my career in the league playing defense and making shots, and also making plays when I needed to. That's kind of my game and how I built my career.”

Over the past six games, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is averaging very impressive numbers of 17.6 points on 60.3 field goal shooting percentage, including 20-of-37 from beyond the arc, to go along with 7.5 rebounds. With Lonzo Ball now back from injury and Isaiah Thomas part of the Lakers' fold, the five-year veteran has two point guards capable of setting him up for easy baskets which will only make him better moving forward.

If he can sustain the momentum he currently has, it won't come as a surprise if he can continue playing well, and will help him secure another lucrative contract after this season.
