WNBA legend Sue Bird told an epic Kobe Bryant story involving Paul Pierce after the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals.

Piece and the Celtics defeated Kobe and the Lakers in six games. Pierce won Finals MVP and Bryant's quest for championship number four came up short.

Bird said that while she was hanging out with Bryant during the 2008 Olympics, the Lakers icon saw a newspaper with Pierce on it. Sue revealed that Kobe took the newspaper, cut Pierce out, and said “motivation.”

As we all know, Bryant got his revenge on Paul Pierce and the Celtics. First, Kobe and the Lakers defeated Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in the 2009 Finals. The Black Mamba then led the Purple and Gold to their second title in a row by defeating the Beantown team in the 2010 Finals.

Bryant won back-to-back Finals MVPs and cemented himself as arguably the greatest Lakers player of all-time. Kobe finished his LA career with averages of 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
