A game-worn Los Angeles Lakers jersey Kobe Bryant wore during his rookie year in the NBA is set to go up in auction this May and is expected to fetch millions of dollars.

According to David Kohler of SCP Auctions, who will be handling the sale, they project the jersey to sell for at least $3 million up to $5 million. Per NBC Sports, the auction starts May 18 and ends June 4.

Of course the said No. 8 Lakers jersey is from the 1996-97 season and has been authenticated and photo-matched as a game-worn one. Kobe wore the said jersey four times, twice in the regular season during their April 13, 1997 game against the Utah Jazz and April 17, 1997 match with the Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers icon is also said to have worn the same jersey in their 1997 Western Conference Semifinals against the Jazz, during which the Purple and Gold lost the series 4-1.

Kobe Bryant memorabilia continues to sell like hotcakes, so it won't be a surprise if his game-used rookie jersey sells for a lot of money.

Just last February, a rare Kobe card–which is not even a rookie card or an autographed one–fetched $2 million in a private sale. There are 10 of such 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Emerald card in existence, but it's hard to find another one in such good condition than the one sold.

With that said, imagine how much a jersey Kobe actually worse in the regular season and the playoffs will actually sell for.
