Los Angeles Lakers incoming third-year forward Kyle Kuzma recently opened up about his relationship with former teammate Lonzo Ball. Both youngsters entered the league at the same time, with the Lakers adding both guys during the 2017 NBA Draft.

Speaking to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Kuzma expressed how he had grown very close to Ball during their two years together in L.A. Unfortunately, with all that's going on in their individual lives, they haven't been able to see each other as much as they would like of late.

“Lonzo has a lot going on, a lot of transition and having a baby daughter, so he’s doing a lot of different things. I haven’t seen him too much this summer, but we always talk from time to time. We’ll always have a special relationship.”

Kuzma went on to say that while he does feel some regret about no longer having his good buddy as his teammate in the coming season, he still believes that Ball — as well as ex-teammate Brandon Ingram — are still destined for greatness.

“We all have a lot of things we want to accomplish in this league,” Kuzma added. “It couldn’t happen together, but those guys are special. It shows you the league is a business.”

Both Ball and Ingram were shipped of by the Lakers this offseason in the blockbuster deal that brought Anthony Davis to Hollywood. The duo is now part of a young and very promising nucleus for the New Orleans Pelicans, alongside the phenom, Zion Williamson.
