The ‘Big Baller Brand' was dealt a blow following the arrest of UCLA freshman LiAngelo Ball in China. It was reported that he and two other teammates were arrested by local Hangzhou police for allegedly stealing Louis Vuitton sunglasses.

The Ball family sans Lonzo immediately flew out to deal with the ongoing situation. While little has been reported about the exact details of their punishment, the elder Ball said the allegations regarding his son are ‘unfortunate', according to ESPN's Arash Markazi:

“It is a very unfortunate situation that the Ball family and UCLA has to deal with at this particular time. We will comment shortly.”

Shoplifting in China is a serious crime and often carries a penalty of up to 3-10 years. However, Ball did not seem too worried about any sort of harsh punishment.

“He'll be fine. He'll be fine. Everybody making it a big deal. It ain't that big of a deal.”

His son's arrest could not have come at a worst time with Lonzo Ball still trying to find his footing in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers rookie is set to embark on the first true road test of his career and the last thing he needs is another distraction.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether his younger brother will be able to return home anytime soon. LaVar Ball is likely to go into more details about his son's arrest
