Historic things happened in the NBA Friday night. There's LeBron James going nuclear for 50 points to help the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Washington Wizards at home. And then, of course, there was San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich becoming the NBA's winningest head coach in history after steering his team to a victory over the Utah Jazz.

The Lakers superstar hopped on Twitter just after he demolished the Wizards to congratulate Popovich, who has had his battles with LeBron James-led squads in NBA championship showdowns.

The Spurs' win against the Jazz gave Popovich his 1,336th career win, thus breaking his tie with Don Nelson. Popovich has won basically everything there is to win in the NBA as a head coach, but there's no stopping the 73-year-old Spurs bench boss from achieving more.

As for James, his eruption against the Wizards made him the oldest player in league history to record multiple 50-point performances in a season. It could be remembered that James went off for 56 points in a recent win in Los Angeles over the Golden State Warriors on Mar. 5.

LeBron James and Gregg Popovich are just examples that sometimes, in the NBA, age is just a number. Expect more from these legends this season, as they each look to lead their teams to a spot in the playoffs.
