Talks of LeBron James following “the ghost” and his footsteps off the court could be a lot more than friendly banter, as a recent report showcased the belief executives around the league had in the Los Angeles Lakers superstar owning a team, just like Michael Jordan does today.

The Los Angeles Lakers forward clarified that this isn't merely speculation, but only a matter of time before it becomes reality.

“Ain’t no maybe about it, I’m going to do that s**t,” James told Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

The belief is that owning a team is no pipe dream for James, already the highest-earning NBA player this year when bundling his NBA wages with his lifetime Nike deal and the endless sponsorships, partnerships, and investments underway.

“What few realize is that LeBron, with the help of people he trusts the most, has been making maneuvers and preparations so that if he were to retire today, and an NBA franchise was for sale tomorrow, he could place a bid,” wrote Vardon. “He not only has the finances to be a primary investor, but enough of the right people around him, and enough cache built in the league, to pull it off.”

James has not been shy about his ambitions and has rather operated aggressively throughout his years in the league, going to big cities like Miami and Los Angeles, which only bolstered his image and exposure as the NBA's iconic player.

Chances to own a team don't come around too often in a league that already has 30 teams, but when it does, rest assured James and his partners will make a bid for it.
