Looking back at the NBA Bubble, there have been mixed reactions about the experience from both players and fans. Despite less travel and more recovery time after games, numerous players have expressed the tough, mental aspect of being inside it. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers left Disney with the Larry O’Brien trophy, but it was certainly a challenging three months being isolated from the world to achieve one goal.

Now, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas expressed his perspective on the Bubble Championship on his podcast “No Chill.” Arenas addressed the narrative that the Lakers’ championship was an easy run. He explained the reasoning why it was the hardest championship of all was because of the superstar talent of LeBron and the immense pressure the Lakers had as a team.

Arenas also explained how an empty gymnasium also played a part in the difficulty of playing in the bubble. The lack of energy in the building certainly took a toll on most of the players. It was up to the team to find motivation and energy to continue to play at a high level. With that being said, it was rather difficult for teams to pull through for a win in each matchup. However, the Lakers were able to overcome the adversity and continue to play at a high level.

Throughout the 2020 seeding games and playoffs, LeBron James explained numerous times how difficult the bubble was. Although it was hard for the Lakers to adjust to the new environment, the team still got the job done.

James remained a dominating factor through the postseason. His performance throughout the Finals was a huge spark in the Purple and Gold wining their 17th NBA title.
