The Los Angeles Lakers are ramping up their hiring process to complete Darvin Ham's coaching staff. After hiring LeBron James' former coach in Chris Jent, they are now reportedly eyeing Jordan Ott for assistant coach.

Ott is actually an assistant coach for the Kevin Durant-led Brooklyn Nets, so it will be interesting to see if the Lakers push through on hiring him. As Brad Turner of LA Times noted, however, the interest of the Purple and Gold is not surprising since Ott and Ham have a history together when they worked with the Atlanta Hawks.

When Ham was an assistant for the Hawks (2013 to 2018), Ott was the video coordinator for the team (2013 to 2016). After that job, Ott moved to the Nets and has been with the franchise ever since.

Darvin Ham and the Lakers are working hard to strengthen the coaching staff, and it looks like they already have a solid list of targets they want.

The Lakers recently lost Quinton Crawford, who is joining the Dallas Mavericks' coaching staff under Jason Kidd. However, aside from Jordan Ott, they still have Rasheed Wallace as a prime candidate to help them on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen who the LA franchise ends up hiring, but sure enough, things are looking good on that end. The pressure is on Ham to deliver good results in 2022-23, and he is doing his best to increase heir chances of making a quick turnaround.
