As a four-time NBA champion, LeBron James knows a thing or two about celebrating a title. This is exactly why he holds a lot of regret for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates not being able to experience the full ride due to the restrictions brought about by the pandemic.

In a recent appearance on the Road Trippin' Podcast, James expressed why he believes his teammates deserve a real championship celebration (h/t UNINTERRUPTED on Tiwtter):

“They don't understand the power of a championship celebration,” Lebron said passionately. “From the partying, one, to the parade, and then back to the partying. We have not been able to do that. And it burns me because as a champion you should feel that.”

The coronavirus pandemic forced the government to ban any and all public gatherings, which obviously includes a championship parade for the Lakers in the streets of Los Angeles. James went on to share why he believes his teammates are missing out on so much:

“You get the locker room celebration, which is amazing,” LeBron said. “The locker room celebration is amazing, but it goes likes this [snaps his finger to express that the moment is gone in a flash]. As fast as that go you say, ‘okay, we're gonna have the parade. We know that we're going to have an unbelievable time at the parade celebrating with the fans and the community. And then we're gonna have our celebration where we go out and have fun and party and things.'”

James has been on his fair share of championship parades so he knows what he's talking about here. He ended his rant with a sentiment that pretty much encapsulates the year that has been for all of us:

“It's just like 2020 — it's F'd up,” he closed.

The good news LeBron and Co. is that they still remain to be one of the favorites to win the title this coming season. Should this come to fruition, then perhaps the Lakers can go out to celebrate their 2021 title the proper way.
