Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is the latest sports personality to pay tribute to former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 33.
LeBron took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message amid this tragic turn of events:
“Rest in paradise DT,” wrote the Lakers star. “Crazy man. 33 Years Young! Prayers sent to the heavens above for his loved ones.”
The Lakers star shared a touching photo of himself, who at that time was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers, shaking hands with Thomas during a Cavs game. This picture captured a great moment between the pair as the two exchanged pleasantries at courtside.
Reports of Thomas' tragic passing were first filed on Thursday. More recent reports suggest that Thomas died of a seizure while showering inside his own home.
Thomas played 10 seasons in the NFL between 2010 and 2019. He spent most of his career with the Broncos, where he won a Super Bowl title in 2016. The former Georgia Tech standout was a four-time Pro Bowler. Much like LeBron of the Lakers, many people continue to admire Thomas and all that he had contributed to the sport.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Demaryius Thomas. May his soul rest in peace.
