The duel between the Lakers and the Pelicans is one of the most anticipated matchups in the 2019-20 season. After all, the two engaged in a massive trade deal over the summer.
It sent Davis to the Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round draft picks, including the Lakers’ No. 4 overall selection in the 2019 NBA draft.
Pelicans fans are expected to boo the hell out of Davis. He’s the one who requested the trade — a trade that was postponed for several months which created a tense and awkward atmosphere not just in the Pelicans’ bench, but in the city of New Orleans as well.
Now, the two teams will match up with some malicious intent hidden up their sleeves. If James is indeed hinting at a Davis-revenge game, then we might be in for a good show. Expect the rest of the Purple and Gold to be right Davis’ back. Expect the Pelicans, too, to put up a fight against the best team in the league.
