Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball underwent arthroscopic knee surgery back in July and was expected to return to basketball activities in training camp. Ball was initially expected to brought back slowly into the mix, but the former number two pick in the 2017 NBA draft was reportedly up to speed during the Lakers training camp.

His new Lakers teammate, by the name of LeBron James, was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how good Lonzo looked, that it seemed like he didn't even have surgery.

“I didn't know he was gonna be full go so fast,” James said in a report by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN after the Lakers' practice Saturday. “He's been going through live drills the last 2½ days. His bounce is there. His speed is there.”

“So I don't even know if he even had surgery.”

As mentioned, Ball finally opted for surgery in mid-July after initially trying out various remedies for his bothersome knee. Now that he is back on the basketball court, the 6-foot-6 guard is ready to show out for his new teammates, especially LeBron James.

However, the Lakers will proceed to be patient with Ball following surgery, as initially planned. The second year guard is slated to come off the bench to start the season, with veteran guard Rajon Rondo taking over starting point guard duties, in an effort to bring back the former UCLA stand out slowly.

While Ball has been impressive in practice, he will still not suit up for the Lakers' first pre-season game on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets. His status for their season opener on October 18 against the Portland Trail Blazers is still up in the air.
