One of the lasting impacts from LeBron James' I Promise School will be how it inspires others to give back and make a change in their community as well. Not everyone has the means or the reach to do anything of the same magnitude. But we all have the ability to make improvements to society in our own ways.

According to Tom Withers of The Associated Press, this is exactly how Browns cornerback T.J. Carrie feels. Carrie told Withers:

“I'm talking to my team now. OK, LeBron's doing this, we're not on his level, but the level that we're on, what can we do to achieve and make a huge difference within the community out here?”

James' efforts are starting a conversation among athletes. They want to join in and follow his lead. Carrie is taking this seriously, and he wants to continue to build on what LeBron has started.

Carrie went on to say:

“LeBron has done an amazing job here in the state of Ohio, period,” Carrie said. “It sets precedents for what we should do as athletes on how we are a role model to a lot of kids that we may not know, that we may not see but that know us.”

There is always more work to be done. The I Promise School is a stunning show of goodwill from the most famous basketball player on the planet. Now it looks as though his efforts are leading others to join him.
