Some of the most noteworthy names from the Los Angeles Lakers camp were one of the first to congratulate Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics for their recent success in the WNBA. After securing the title following a 89-78 series-clinching Game 5 victory against the Connecticut Sun, Delle Donne and company were congratulated by no less than LeBron James and Kobe Bryant via Twitter.

Delle Donne was dominant all season long for the Mystics, as she bagged MVP honors (her second) following a tremendous year for her squad. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward averaged 19.5 points (on 51.5 percent shooting), 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks, while also knocking down 1.7 three-pointers per contest on a 43.0-percent clip.

It was more of the same for Delle Donne in the Finals, as she capped off her season with a wonderful Game 5 performance on Friday. The six-time All-Star accounted for 21 points (on 8-of-16 from the floor), nine rebounds, a steal, two blocks, and no turnovers in 37 minutes of action.

This was Delle Donne's first WNBA title after what has been a decorated seven-year career in the league thus far. The 30-year-old was understandably over the moon with her recent achievement; so much so, that she decided to take home the championship trophy.

Delle Donne and the Mystics definitely ended the most recent WNBA season on a high note. It's now time for the league to take a back seat, as we approach the start of the NBA season. Nonetheless, the WNBA continues to make more waves year after year, and we definitely can't wait for the next campaign to kick off next May.
