The Los Angeles Lakers are being tagged as a dysfunctional organization because of the recent events in the franchise. The state of the franchise is fueling speculations that superstar LeBron James will eventually ask for a trade out of Los Angeles just after one season with the Lakers.

However, Joe Vardon told Sam Amick during his appearance on The Athletic's Tampering podcast that he does not expect a trade request from James. Vardon said that James is happy with his life in Los Angeles, and LeBron does not want to go elsewhere, considering the fact that his son Bronny James is also entering high school.

Despite the fact that the direction of the franchise remains unclear at this point, James is determined to stay and wants to make it work. The Lakers made a big step earlier this month, when they hired Frank Vogel as their new coach, and Jason Kidd as their new assistant coach.

“I would be shocked if at any point for the remainder of his career so long as LeBron James Jr. is in high school in the Greater Los Angeles area that he would have any interest in playing anywhere else,” Vardon said. “He wants to make this work.”

The Lakers are expected to become active in free agency and trade market this summer. Lady luck also smiled on them in the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, where they secured the fourth pick despite having just the 11th-best odds to win the first pick.
