NBA legend Jerry West passed away on Wednesday morning, and the basketball world is mourning the loss of one of the greats. West played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers for 14 years, and he is the NBA logo. He passed away at the age of 86. LeBron James shared a message on Twitter about his passing.

β€œWill truly miss our convos my dear friend!,” LeBron James said in a tweet. β€œMy thoughts and prayers goes out to your wonderful family! Forever love Jerry! Rest in Paradise my guy!”

Jerry West was one of the best to ever do it, and he will be missed by the entire NBA community. LeBron James is obviously not the only NBA legend sharing a message on social media today. Mark Cuban is another one as he shared a photo of himself with West.

West is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA, and he is also one of the best executives. He had an all-around impressive career in the world of basketball.

As a player, West spent his entire career with the Lakers, and he never had an off year. He made the All-Star game in every season, and he never averaged under 17 PPG. His worst season in terms of scoring averages was his rookie year, and he averaged 17.6 PPG that season.

After Jerry West finished his playing days, he moved on to coaching. He coached the Lakers for three seasons, leading them to the postseason all three times. After that was over, he became an executive, and he had a ton of success.

West spent time with the Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. During his team as an executive he ended up winning eight NBA championships.

All in all, West is one of the best to do it, on and off the court. He had an extremely impressive basketball career, and he will be missed.

Adam Silver is the commissioner of the NBA, and he released a statement shortly after the news that Jerry West had passed away surfaced.

β€œJerry West was a basketball genius and a defining figure in our league for more than 60 years,” Adam Silver said in a statement. β€œHe distinguished himself not only as an NBA champion and an All-Star in all 14 of his playing seasons, but also as a consummate competitor who embraced the biggest moments. He was the league's first Finals MVP and made rising to the occasion his signature quality, earning him the nickname β€˜Mr. Clutch'. Jerry's four decades with the Lakers also included a successful stint as a head coach and a remarkable run in the front office that cemented his reputation as one of the great executives in sports history. He helped build eight championship teams during his tenure in the NBA – a legacy of achievement that mirrors his on-court excellence. And he will be enshrined this October into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor, becoming the first person ever inducted as both a player and a contributor. I valued my friendship with Jerry and the knowledge he shared with me over many years about basketball and life. On behalf of the NBA, we send our deepest condolences to Jerry's wife, Karen, his family and his many friends in the NBA community.”
