After the end of the tense Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James sent out a tweet reminding everyone to vote.

In his tweet, James tagged More Than A Vote, a voting rights group “of Black athletes and artists who came together amid the protests fueled by the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor by police.” The organization’s mission is to “educate, energize and protect Black voters.”

Among the members of the organization are several athletes, including NBA players such as CJ McCollum, Ben Simmons, Damian Lillard, Draymond Green, Kyle Lowry, Trae Young and many more.

LeBron James has been one of the most outspoken athletes on touchy and important topics such as racism, social injustice and police brutality. In fact, he coined the phrase “More Than An Athlete” to describe his role in society. While he’s a professional basketball by occupation, the Lakers star views himself as a figure with a strong voice and a vast platform ā€” something that he hass been utilizing for the advancement of society.

Per the New York Times, James shared what inspired him to start the More Than a Vote organization:

ā€œIā€™m inspired by the likes of Muhammad Ali, Iā€™m inspired by the Bill Russells and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbars, the Oscar Robertsons ā€” those guys who stood when the times were even way worse than they are today. Hopefully, someday down the line, people will recognize me not only for the way I approached the game of basketball, but the way I approached life as an African-American man,” the Lakers veteran explained.

For what it’s worth, several athletes have also expressed their dismay over the chaotic debate between the two presidential front runners, with the likes of Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Kyle Lowry and many more taking it to Twitter to show their reactions.
