No less than former United States President Barack Obama has taken notice of how much success LeBron James' I Promise School has achieved at this early point in its inception. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was absolutely floored by Obama's kind words, and took to Twitter to show his appreciation towards the former commander-in-chief.
Obama shared a New York Times article detailing how the test results of the first batch of I Promise students have gone beyond expectations, and how this is an early indication of how much promise LeBron's school has.
Unfortunately for James, though, his recently concluded basketball season with the Lakers has been far from emcouraging. LeBron ended his first year in L.A. with a 37-45 record, which is good for only 10th place in the Western Conference. This is only the third time in the three-time NBA champion's career that he has missed the playoffs.
The recent developments involving Magic Johnson and his decision to step down as the team's president for basketball operations cast a further cloud on the Lakers' future. The team are in shambles right now, and a major revamp in the front office seems to be looming.
Nonetheless, James has been through a lot of adversity in his life, and this latest speed bump is surely no different. We must expect no less than an epic comeback next season for one of the greatest to ever play the sport.
